| WorkTalk Training Programs
The Basic Program consists of four half-day
sessions, covering a wide range of topics.
The first session covers grammar and punctuation;
the second session is on planning and organizing;
the third is on writing well, and the fourth
is on editing for yourself and others.
The Advanced Course is for graduates of
the Basic Program. In two half-days, we review
key planning tools and writing principles,
and give participants further opportunities
to analyze their reader's needs and edit their
own work. Participants spend a substantial
part of the training time doing "real-life"
writing and exercises drawn from their current
work.
Writing for the Reader course focuses
on the art of writing for the reader. In two
half-days, it incorporates some aspects of
the basic program, but gives special emphasis
to the skills of targeting benefits to the
reader, analyzing the reader, and understanding
the reader's point of view. This course is
especially valuable for people working in marketing
and customer service.
Writing for Managers teaches managers
how to assign writing projects in a way that
reduces revision time for everyone. In this
one-day course, executives will learn how to
manage large writing projects with multiple
writers, and how to tactfully edit the work
of others.
Technical Writing is for people who work
in technical fields such as engineering or
computer science, or who work in financial
areas which require them to use specialized
language. This course teaches them how to make
their ideas understandable to readers who are
not familiar with their field.
Executive Coaching programs serve senior
managers and executives. We meet individually
with executives and work intensively with them
to hone writing and speaking abilities, and
to help them attain their career goals by improving
their ability to communicate.
Customized Programs are developed according
to the needs of our clients. We will be happy
to develop new programs which focus on the
learning objectives you value most.
